A GATE which diverts water out of the River Parrett has been opened as Environment Agency bosses look to clear water from the saturated Somerset Levels.
The Environment Agency said starting the Monksleaze Cycle should speed up efforts to get pumps switched back on to drain the moors.
The opening has been brought forward due to good conditions, a spokesman said.
