FIRE crews were called to reports of a car fire after the driver had just left the M5.
At 4.17pm yesterday (June 17) the crews were called to
the A38 off Junction 24 Huntworth.
A fire engine from Bridgwater was sent following a call from the driver of a car that had caught fire just after they had exited the M5.
On arrival crews confirmed the vehicle was well alight and set to work extinguishing it with two hose reel jets, two breathing apparatus and later using a Environment Agency pack to prevent the run off entering the drainage system and watercourse.
The vehicle was severely damaged by fire, along with a 5m squared area of grassland next to the highway.
Once extinguished and the area made safe, duty of care was left with the owners awaiting recovery.
