A COMBINE harvester and acre of crops was badly damaged following a fire in Wedmore.
Firefighters from Cheddar and Burnham-on-Sea, a water bowser from Bridgwater and the Brendon Pump from Cheddar were called to tackle the fire in Rush Hill Lane in Wedmore at 12.26pm on Wednesday (August 21).
On arrival crews confirmed that the combine harvester was well alight and approximately 10 per cent of a field of 10 acres of corn was also alight with a 20 metre fire front.
Crews extinguished the fire using two breathing apparatus, two hosereel jets, a thermal image camera and four beaters.
The combine harvester was 50 per cent damaged by fire and approximately 1 acre of the crop was also damaged.
