A CAR caught fire on the M5 motorway this afternoon (May 27).
Two fire engines from Bridgwater attended the incident on the hard shoulder near junction 24 (Bridgwater).
The vehicle was completely destroyed by the blaze.
"Upon arrival the two crews from Bridgwater set to work with hose reels and breathing apparatus," said a spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue.
"Battery powered spreaders were also used to gain access to the vehicle batteries.
"The vehicle was 100 per cent destroyed by the fire."
