FIRE crews have been tackling a barn fire in East Huntspill.
Crews were called to the barn, which contained 200 bales of hay and straw, at around 11.34am yesterday (Thursday, September 14).
Attending stations included Crediton, Taunton, Bridgwater, Burnham-on-Sea, Glastonbury and Cheddar.
They sent four appliances due to the number of calls, along with the water carrier and the welfare unit. They soon got to work with one main jet on the fire.
All animals were evacuated and led to safety before the fire crews arrived.
At around 12.25pm, the number of main jets used was increased to two. Crews used an light portable pump from open water.
At 1.24pm, the incident was scaled back to two pumps.
At 3.46pm, crews began damping down with one main jet and cooling off the perimeter. The fire was allowed to burn out.
At 9.25pm, one main jet was used for damping down.
This incident is still marked as 'ongoing'. Devon and Somerset Fire & Rescue Service has been contacted for a comment.
