AN underpass in Bridgwater town centre is currently fully submerged by flood water following heavy rain and high-tide.
On Monday (March 11), the Environment Agency issued a flood warning for the tidal River Parrett, and stated flooding was 'possible' in Bridgwater.
The river was threatening to burst its banks all day, and the underpass near Blake Gardens which runs under Broadway became entirely submerged by flood water.
A photo captured at around 8:45am showed water seeping through the wall, and by 10am, the walkway was completely submerged.
Following yesterday's flood alert, a spokesperson for the Environment Agency said: "Consider activating any property flood protection products, and plan driving routes to coastal roads, which may be flooded."
The total flood alert area encompasses: Coastal and tidal areas at Minehead, Combwich, Bridgwater, Burnham-on-Sea, Uphill, Weston-super-Mare, Kewstoke, Sand Bay and Kingston Seymour.
Areas most at risk include coastal and tidal areas at Minehead, Combwich, Bridgwater, Burnham-on-Sea, Uphill, Weston-super-Mare, Kewstoke, Sand Bay and Kingston Seymour.
