AN underpass in Bridgwater town centre is currently fully submerged by flood water following heavy rain and high-tide.

On Monday (March 11), the Environment Agency issued a flood warning for the tidal River Parrett, and stated flooding was 'possible' in Bridgwater.Bridgwater Mercury: The underpass pictured earlier in the morning. The underpass pictured earlier in the morning. (Image: Terence Peppin)

The river was threatening to burst its banks all day, and the underpass near Blake Gardens which runs under Broadway became entirely submerged by flood water.

A photo captured at around 8:45am showed water seeping through the wall, and by 10am, the walkway was completely submerged.
