A NEW business to help men with hair loss is set to open near Bridgwater in a few weeks' time.
The Bald Barber will begin offering services at Terrie's Barbershop in North Petherton, which opened in 2022, from Monday, April 1.
The business is the brainchild of Sheldon Jones, who began losing his hair at an early age.
“I lost mine relatively early – I shaved my head at 26 due to hair loss," Sheldon said.
"It was terrifying, I absolutely hated the thought of it."
Despite working in trade all his life, the 33-year-old decided a career in barbering was the one for him, and wanted to help other men who are now experiencing what he went through.
“My hair was everything to me - when it went, I hated it, and now I want to try and help people that have gone through that loss themselves," Sheldon said.
“It’s been a journey for sure, I’ve spent the last year really investing time, effort and money into this."
Sheldon, who is Bridgwater born-and-bred, offers glue-on custom-made hairpieces for people who have lost their hair - and prides himself on making anonymity a priority for his customers.
“Anonymity is my biggest thing – if people don’t want others to know, they get their faces covered," he said.
As well as providing hair loss solutions for for people who have lost their hair through chemotherapy, alopecia, or male pattern baldness, The Bald Barber will provide all men's haircuts.
Sheldon is accredited as a cutthroat specialist by the Great British Barber Academy, and believes he is the only barber of British origin in the area who is qualified to provide the service.
He also offers facial shaving, and a hot towel treatment and head shave for those who want to stay bald, as an alternative to a traditional haircut but still providing the aspect of self care.
For those who are beginning to go thin on top, or lose their hair, Sheldon will assist by pointing them in the right direction of medical/topical treatments which may help with their situation.
