Men in Bridgwater have been invited to take part in a relaxed football session to help tackle loneliness and isolation.

Bridgwater United Community Sports Trust launched Wellbeing Wanderers to give men a place to meet new people and have fun while getting fit.

The head of community at the trust, Daniel Rogers, highlighted the positive impact these sessions have already had.

He said: "We’ve seen lots of new faces at our recently launched ‘Wellbeing Wanderers’ sessions but we know that there are lots of men in our local community who will benefit from what we’re offering.

"The sessions are really relaxed and are a great way to meet new people, which is especially good if you’re new to the area or feel like you’d like to build connections over a shared interest."

Mr Rogers emphasised that the 'Wellbeing Wanderers' sessions are held every Wednesday from 7pm at HOST Sedgemoor.

Men interested in participating can book their space through the trust's website.

The Trust is also working alongside Talk Club, a peer-support mental health service, to offer additional support on Thursdays at Fairfax Park.

Mr Rogers reiterated their commitment to men's mental health, saying: "We are committed to providing a space where men can get together, meet new people and ultimately have somewhere they can share what’s on their minds.

"Men’s mental health is a cause close to all of our hearts here at the trust and we look forward to helping tackle the issue, however, we can."
