LAST week marked the inaugural 'Meet the Charity Member' event, an initiative aimed at connecting our members with local charities and shedding light on their impactful work, writes Bridgwater Chamber manager, Diogo Rodrigues.

The idea came about because as a chamber we want to promote and support our great local charities.

It gives businesses the chance to meet the charity, really find out what they’re about, meet the people involved and potentially be inspired to support their worthy causes.

Engaging with charities isn't just a commendable gesture; it also serves as a strategic move for businesses seeking recognition and loyalty.

Research indicates that when faced with choosing between two similarly priced services or products, a significant majority of consumers prioritise companies with philanthropic inclinations.

Some studies have shown that millennials are 70 per cent more likely to spend more on brands/companies that support causes.

Supporting charities means actively helping individuals, organisations, and communities through financial contributions, volunteering, or even donating resource.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of daily business operations, taking time to give something back to a charity can offer a fresh perspective on both work and life.

While this is undoubtedly the biggest benefit, it's important to recognise the other advantages of supporting charities, such as significantly boosting your staff morale, public relations, and ultimately, enhancing your bottom line.

Join us for our next 'Meet the Charity Member' event with On Your Bike, where you'll discover how they provide training and support for those suffering with physical disabilities and mental health problems/disorders, ex-service personnel, ex-offenders, homeless and long term unemployed.
