The Lib Dem candidate for the new Bridgwater constituency, Claire Sully, boosted her election chances after holding a successful event.

Shine A Light On was held at the 37 Club on the Gravity Smart Campus, near Puriton, on March 21.

More than 60 people were in attendance, as Ms Sully outlined her vision to prioritise people and "unlock the tremendous potential of the new Bridgwater constituency."

The event featured key speakers, including leader of Somerset Council, Bill Revans and Claire Pearce, a director at the Gravity Smart Campus.

Claire Sully said: "This event has really demonstrated the brilliance that Bridgwater, Burnham and Highbridge, North Petherton and all our surrounding villages have to offer."

She emphasised the need for a new voice for the constituency, pledging she would be that voice.

Ms Pearce shed light on the Gravity Smart Campus project, highlighting the opportunity for upskilling in the local area and potential economic benefits.

While Mr Revans told the audience that Ms Sully represents a "new generation of genuine, community-focused politicians."

Ms Sully continued: "I am proud to be running for MP here in what I think is the most exciting area in the county, if not the country, with so much to offer, opportunity and potential."
