Bridgwater United Community Sports Trust will restart its wellbeing football session service to support men's mental health.

The Wellbeing Wanderers programme, in partnership with charity Second Step, will resume on April 17.

It will run every Wednesday at 7pm at HOST Sedgemoor.

Head of community at the trust, Daniel Rogers said: "We’re on a mission to create a supportive environment for men so that they can meet new people, have a kick around and, most importantly, feel that they have a space to get things off their chest when they need to.

“We hear so often, both locally and nationally, that men feel isolated from the communities they’re living in.

"The Trust wants to welcome men to an informal setting to have fun and hopefully make some lasting friends, while working on their physical and mental wellbeing.”

Moreover, BUCST has partnered with Talk Club to offer mental health peer support.

Mr Rogers continued: "A man dies by suicide every 90 minutes in the UK, which is the same length as a football match.

"We want to reduce this rate and tackle the stigma associated with men’s mental health struggles."
