BRIDGWATER men are invited to take part in a relaxed football session that is designed to get them physically fit while also tackling the key issues of loneliness and isolation (March 2024).

Bridgwater United Community Sports Trust have launched ‘Wellbeing Wanderers’ to give men a space to meet new people and have fun while getting fit, in a bid to improve their physical and mental health.

Talking about the new sessions, Head of Community at the Trust, Daniel Rogers said: “We’ve seen lots of new faces at our recently launched ‘Wellbeing Wanderers’ sessions but we know that there are lots of men in our local community who will benefit from what we’re offering.

“The sessions are really relaxed and are a great way to meet new people, which is especially good if you’re new to the area or feel like you’d like to build connections over a shared interest.

“Our sessions run every Wednesday from 7pm at HOST Sedgemoor and you can book your space on our website.”

In addition to offering ‘Wellbeing Wanderers’ sessions, BUCST has also partnered with Talk Club to provide mental health peer support from Fairfax Park on Thursdays, so that men of all ages and backgrounds have a space to access a friendly ear and a chat.

Daniel added: “We are committed to providing a space where men can get together, meet new people and ultimately have somewhere they can share what’s on their minds. Men’s mental health is a cause close to all of our hearts here at the trust and we look forward to helping tackle the issue however we can.”
