YEOVIL Town have agreed to a month's extension of striker Tom Clarke's spell with Bridgwater Town.
The 18-year-old's month's loan would have expired this week and, with Mike Mackay due to start a three-match ban on October 18 for his dismissal against Gosport last Tuesday, Town would have been short of a striker.
Co-manager Craig Laird said: "Yeovil have said it is OK for Tom to stay another month. Now he needs to talk to them and we need to have a chat with him. They've been pleased with him in training since he's been with us and they say he looks a lot sharper. Although he's got a lot to learn, he's done well for us and scored three valuable goals."
Town's players wish to apologise to the travelling supporters for their performance in the 2-0 FA Trophy defeat away to Windsor & Eton on Saturday. "We let the fans down and cost the club £1,000 in first-round prize-money," said Laird.
He went on: "We were poor and they were good. It is the first time in ages that we've lost to a team who deserved to beat us. They had watched us, knew what to expect and did a job on us. We passed the ball well, but we had no cutting edge."
Laird added: "We had played so well in beating Gosport on Tuesday that Paul Rich and I should really have changed the side for Saturday to keep everyone on their toes. But we didn't and we wish now we had."
There are likely to be changes in the starting line-up for Saturday's home league game with Bracknell (3pm). On the following Wednesday (Oct 17), Town have a quick chance of revenge against Windsor & Eton when they visit them in the league.
On Saturday (3pm), Town Reserves visit Cutters Friday, then they are at home to Timsbury next Tuesday (7.45pm).
