THEY’RE back! West Country superstars The Wurzels will be performing at The Palace on April 21 – and the Mercury has two tickets to give away.

A night with The Wurzels at the Bridgwater venue always goes down a storm.

Neckerchief’d and with a cider in hand, loyal fans will already be preparing to sing along to the Scrumpy ‘n’ Western band’s best loved hits.

Tracks including Drink up Thy Zider, Combine Harvester and a cover of Oasis’ Don’t Look Back in Anger are sure to get the crowd going as the band draws on more than 40 years of experience.

Combine Harvester - a parody of Melanies Brand New Key – saw the band hit the big time in 1976.

The familiarity of the tune and the jolly sound captured peoples imaginations and sent the record to the top of the charts, with nearly 400,000 UK sales.

Previously, the band’s natural repartee and cheeky on-stage antics have delighted ticket holders at The Palace.

Revellers will be hoping for the same electric atmosphere this month as The Wurzels’ jovial Somerset-twanged tracks fill the venue.

Supporting The Wurzels will be punk-folk band Surfin’ Turnips and acoustic-punk Dub Liberators, from Yeovil.

Doors open at 8pm. Tickets are £12.50 in advance from West Quay Records, Strings ‘n’ Things and Club-Land in Bridgwater.
