THIS mystery object in Bridgwater’s River Parrett has drawn the attention of crowds and the fire service today (May 23).

The fire service was called to the town bridge this afternoon following fears someone had fallen into the river, but left when it became clear the object was not human and there was nothing they could do.

Onlookers and shoppers have been stopping to lean over the river wall and guess what the object may be – summoning memories of the search for ‘Turtle Pig’ in the same location in 2011.
