BRIDGWATER Carnival is worth an estimated £4 million annually to the local economy, and so organisations and companies are being invited to learn more about the event at a special business launch for this year’s carnival celebrations.
The event which will take place on Tuesday, April 5 at Bar 27 (St Mary’s Street, Bridgwater) between 6pm and 7.30pm will be hosted by BBC local radio presenter, Emma Britton, and will give businesses a valuable insight into how they could get involved with Bridgwater’s biggest and best night of the year.
At the event Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival Committee will be showcasing the recently awarded 2015/2016 South West Tourism Event of the Year ‘gold’ trophy, and a variety of guest speakers will talk about how getting involved with carnival activities has positively impacted upon their business activities and organisational profile. Other activities on the night include the first ever public viewing of a new short promotional film about the carnival concerts directed by carnival supporter and student Conor Shutler, and the launch of the 2016 Bridgwater Carnival promotional flyers and window stickers.
Dave Stokes, publicity officer for Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival, said: “Bridgwater Carnival 2015 saw one of the largest crowds for many a year on carnival day, and businesses and organisations in the town are starting to tell us how much they value and appreciate the increased revenue and sales experienced from our wonderful community event.
"This upward trend is extremely encouraging, especially when we consider the difficult economic times we all currently find ourselves in, and we would really like to work with more local businesses to ensure Bridgwater Carnival continues to be a successful community event.
“This business launch event will help us to spread the word on the benefits of the carnival to an even wider audience, and hopefully will eventually lead to more businesses becoming more involved with our carnival."
Business representatives who would like to attend this special event should contact Dave in advance at publicity@bridgwatercarnival.org.uk.
