THERE was a sad ending for a dolphin that became stranded on Doniford Beach in West Somerset over the weekend.
Watchet Coastguard, Minehead RNLI and firefighters from Williton went to try and help rescue the dolphin which had been washed up on the beach in distress on Sunday morning.
The poor dolphin had become stranded approximately 200 metres from the shoreline.
Sadly despite trying to use salvage sheets to return the dolphin back to the water, but a vet confirmed the dolphin was too unwell and its signs of life faded.
A spokesman for Watchet Coastguard said: "There was great teamwork today between the agencies."
