A BRIDGWATER College-led science project gave girls from four Somerset schools the chance to release their inner Einsteins from June 18 to June 22.
The WISE project (Women Into Science Engineering) was successfully tackled and completed by year nine pupils from four schools, including Bridgwater's Robert Blake Science College.
All participants successfully designed and made a fully functioning perfume emitting, aromatherapy fan, working with practising engineers and science students during the four-day college-based experience.
As part of the project, girls also visited Hinkley Point A and Explore At Bristol - the hands-on science and engineering experience at Bristol's Docklands development.
The scheme was part funded by WISE and Outlook through the Engineering Employers Federation.
Bridgwater College's marketing co-ordinator and WISE project organiser Lisa Flahant said: "This is our seventh year of running the WISE Outlook Project and the great thing about it is its focused on an under represented group - women in engineering and science.
"We were really impressed by all those who took part in the project and we now have very real evidence of the project's impact, with 80% of the girls from the 2002 WISE project now studying related courses at the college."
