BRIDGWATER'S old hospital could be made into a hotel, following the sale of the building for £1.6m.
The property on Salmon Parade clsoed in 2014 and it has now been sold to a local hotelier by NHS Property Services.
The site already has planning permission for a hotel, gym, swimming pool, day nursery and three homes.
The hospital was transferred to a new purpose built £33m facility which is located on the edge of town.
Alan White, senior transaction manager for NHS Property Services, said: “We are pleased to be returning vital funds to the NHS while releasing this historic building so that it can be brought back to use.”
Capital released from NHS Property Services’ activities is reinvested in the NHS.
