TWO local businesses have been named among the finalists in the Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards 2017.
Clavelshay Barn Restaurant in North Petherton has been shortlisted in the restaurant of the year category, meanwhile Bridgwater Babbling Brook Inn is up for Tourism Pub of the Year.
The finalists were announced after a record number of judging visits to businesses, while the awards night itself takes place at Somerset County Cricket Ground on November 9.
The annual competition saw an increase to 24 categories this year, with a new Guided Tour category and other changes to reflect the ever-changing nature of tourism. Overall, 111 entries were received from across the county.
Successful businesses in the Awards will will automatically be considered for matching categories in the South West Tourism Excellence Awards in February 2018 with the chance to go on to represent Somerset, Bristol and Bath at the National VisitEngland Awards.
Awards organiser Nell Barrington adds: “We are thrilled for all the finalists and want to thank all the businesses who entered this year; there was a really great response from Somerset, Bristol and Bath.”
The award categories cover everything from glamping, hotels and cafes to attractions, spas and campsites. A Winner of Winners, special Outstanding Contribution to Tourism and Outstanding Customer Service award will also be presented on the night.
