ALMOST 100 children from across Bridgwater will be helping get the festivities underway.
A spectacular Children’s Dance Parade is set to hit the streets at 2.15pm on Saturday and those taking part are sure to offer a lively and colourful start to proceedings.
Rehearsals have been underway for weeks under the leadership of Amy Wigglesworth, dance curriculum manager for performing arts at Bridgwater and Taunton College, backed by students.
Malcolm Cattle, Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival president, said: “This is the seventh year that we are staging this dance parade and it allows some of our local youngsters to really get in to the carnival spirit and also learn some choreography and performance skills at the same time.
“The parade has proven to be very popular in past years and always attracts a large crowd of people enjoying the full carnival day experience.”
The theme for the parade this year is Bollywood and the children will be dressed in distinctive, colourful T-shirts.
The parade is set to last for around half an hour.
It starts starting at Fore Street before parading on to the Cornhill and High Street where it will disperse at the Town Hall.
