A BUMPER Bank Holiday weekend kicked off in style with this year’s Bridgwater Flower Show.
Bridgwater Town Hall was packed with beautiful flowers and creative crafts with the judges having to make some tough decisions due to the high standard of entries.
The show took place over two days on Friday, August 24, and Saturday, August 25, with hundreds of visitors heading in to see what excellent exhibits the entrants had produced this year.
It also acted as a showcase for the creativity of gardeners, growers, bakers, winemakers, craftspeople, artists, photographers and florists and featured entries from local people of all ages.
Show secretary Jackie Sealey said: "This year's Flower Show went really well.
"Both entries and entrants were up this year, with more than 600 exhibits of fantastic quality.
"It was especially impressive as it has been a difficult season in terms on the weather for growers."
Jackie said one of the highlights was a pumpikin grown in the Friarn Street allotments which was so large it needed to be brought in on a trolley.
"We also had a lovely heartwarming story," Jackie explained.
"One of our regular entrants who had planted his seeds ready for this year's show, sadly passed away a few months back.
"However members of his family continued to tend them and entered them in his name, winning a few prizes too - I thought it was a fantastic tribute.
"I would just like to say thank you to everyone on the hardworking committee and all the fantastic exhibitors. "
