A CHARITY shop forced to close following a water leak has move into a temporary home.
St Margaret's Hospice clothes shop in Cornhill is currently closed for refurbishment following last month's incident.
So staff have created a pop-up shop on the first floor of the nearby St Margaret’s homemaker furniture store in High Street.
The charity, based in Bishop's Hull, near Taunton, appealed for donations to replace damaged stock.
Manager Lisa Whitney said: "We’ve had a wonderful response from the people of Bridgwater and we’re very grateful for the significant increase in donations to help us through this difficult time.
"Unfortunately the damage to our shop is more serious than initially thought, so we’re going to be closed for longer than expected.
"So we can continue to serve our loyal customers and raise vital funds for St Margaret’s Hospice Care during this time, we’ve moved into the upstairs of our furniture shop.
"Now we really want to spread the word to let everyone know they can find us here for at least the next couple of months."
St Margaret’s Hospice Care relies on donations of good quality items to sell in its 34 shops across the county, which raise funds to help care for people in Somerset affected by any life-limiting illnesses. It is not yet known when the charity’s Cornhill shop will be able to re-open.
The St Margaret’s homemaker shop at 30 High Street is open from 9am to 4.30pm, Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
More information for anyone who would like to donate good quality clothes, furniture or other items is available at st-margarets-hospice.org.uk.
