PLANS have been submitted to build 16 homes on the land to the rear of Carnival Court on Taunton Road in Bridgwater.
The proposals relate to an empty field which currently has three small derelict barn buildings and has become overgrown, which can be accessed via the car park area to Carnival Court where The Hope Inn used to be.
The submission prepared by Nash Partnership architects on behalf of ALMS (Homes) Ltd would see 16 new homes built on the site along with a new access road.
Of those new houses, four would be two-bedroom properties, 10 would three-bedroom homes and two would be four-bedroom houses.
Each house would have a private rear garden, and there are 37 parking spaces proposed, three of which would be allocated as visitor parking.
In the application it states: "In order to provide vehicle access to the site the existing junction onto Taunton Road will need to be upgraded.
"The proposed junction has been designed to incorporate the required visibility splays to make sure highways safety standards are adhered to."
The existing route through the car park of Carnival Court will need to widened to allow safe access, and the existing layout of parking for Carnival Court altered.
