THERE has been more than 800 positive coronavirus tests in the last four days, up to 5pm on Tuesday (December 29).
During the Christmas period, Somerset West and Taunton saw the highest increase with 285 new cases, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 2,628.
Sedgemoor also saw a large increase, with 250 positive tests. This brings the total to 2,555.
Mendip saw an increase of 134, bringing the total to 1,598.
And South Somerset had 184 positive tests, bringing the total to 2,574.
The rates of infection during the last seven days have increased and decreased in some areas.
In Somerset West and Taunton, the rate of infection is 241.8 per 100,000.
In South Somerset it is 164.5 per 100,000 and in Mendip the rate is 178.2 per 100,000.
Sedgemoor's rate of infection has increased to 274.4 per 100,000.
