A BUSY Puriton mum who juggles home-schooling her children and running her own business has gone to the top of the class after losing four stone.
Mum of one Becky Thomas, had struggled with her weight since she began suffering from depression.
"If I’m completely honest I didn’t think Slimming World would work for me, at seven years old I had a stroke and brain haemorrhage, so I take a lot of tablets a day and I’m left side hemiplegic,” Becky said.
But Becky stepped off the scales after the first week and was shocked to discover that she had lost 3lbs.
“I was amazed I could still eat pasta and potatoes and still lose weight,” Becky said.
Despite being a busy mum and businesswoman, Becky still finds time to cook healthy family friendly meals such as Spaghetti Carbonara which everyone enjoys. She even manages to still enjoy chocolate and sweets in moderation too.
She is now four stone lighter and attends Yasmin Vickers Slimming World group in Puriton.
She said: “Having the knowledge and support of my local group really helped me through this challenging time of lockdown – I felt as if I had the tools to cope.
"Back at the start of lockdown when Yasmin started our virtual group; it was so good to keep in touch with everyone and I’ve not felt on my own with my weight-loss for one moment.
“I worried where I might be at the end of lockdown and that it might have impacted on my ability to reach my goals, but I’m really proud that I’ll be leaving lockdown feeling better than I have in a long time."
Yasmin added: “Slimming World has continued to support members throughout lockdown to successfully manage their weight. Members are supported to eat healthily, get active and change their habits in the long term, so they can manage their weight – whatever life throws at them.
"Our virtual groups have been a lifeline for members.
"Given the challenges of lockdown and links between Covid-19 and obesity, Slimming World’s life-changing and life-saving support is more important now than ever. Slimming World is a partner in Public Health England’s Better Health initiative, a campaign that provides an opportunity for the nation to reset and introduce healthy lifestyle changes”
