ANOTHER 'deliberate' fire was started near Bridgwater yesterday evening (February 21).
A fire engine and the water carrier from Bridgwater and one fire engine from Burnham-on-Sea attended the blaze on Bell Lane in Cossington.
The farmer and his tractor helped the crews to put out the fire, and protect the adjacent barn from catching fire.
"Crews arrived on scene and confirmed the fire well alight," said a spokesperson from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.
"After the blaze was out, they turned over and damped down, dragging out the hay and using one hose reel jet.
"The cause of the fire was deemed deliberate ignition and the police were informed. Duty of care was left with the farmer."
