PRIMARY school pupils have been exploring their love of reading over the past week.
The children at Spaxton Church of England Primary School, near Bridgwater, had a virtual visit from author Clare Helen Walsh - who read aloud her book Poo! Is that you?.
The visit was arranged in collaboration with The Snug Bookshop.
They are offering a 'Fill a Bookshelf' scheme, which helps schools stock their libraries with some of the best and latest titles for young readers.
The scheme asks book buyers to purchase a title and gift it to the school.
Head of school Rachel Rood is hopeful that the donations will make a big impact on the choice of books available to the children.
“During lockdown, we tried hard to encourage the children to keep reading whilst they were at home," she said.
"It was lovely to witness them enjoying dressing up as their favourite book character and taking part in reading themed competitions for World Book Day.
"We asked them to send in ‘I’m reading in an unusual place’ photos and to also guess which of their teachers were hiding behind their favourite books.”
The primary school also won a set of books entitled 'Great Women' from the Bridgwater Morrisons Community Champions International Women's Day competition.
