A SHOPLIFTER who stole a sandwich, a loaf of bread and a number of items from a fridge valued at a total of £23.04 from the Co-op has landed himself with a £262 bill.
Wayne Hughes, 46, of Coleridge Square, Bridgwater, helped himself to the items at the Co-op in the town on November 5 last year, Taunton Magistrates' Court heard.
He pleaded guilty to theft and was fined £60 and ordered to pay £23 compensation, a £34 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
Hughes was fined a further £60 after admitting breaching a 12-month conditional discharge previously imposed for shoplifting from Moto Services last August.
