NICK Arnold has been appointed as the new headteacher at Lyngford Park Primary School, in Taunton.
He is currently head of North Newton Primary School and will take up his new post in September.
Mr Arnold will replace Sarah Loader, who is retiring after seven years at Lyngford Park, which is part of the Richard Huish Education Group.
During his seven years at North Newton, Mr Arnold has led the school through two successful inspections with pupils achieving good or better outcomes.
He brings a high level of educational understanding, strong leadership skills and ambition for Lyngford Park Primary School.
Mr Arnold said: "I am delighted to be appointed as the new headteacher at Lyngford Park Primary, starting in September.
"I am looking forward to working with the whole of the school community and aim to build on the successes from Sarah Loader's time as headteacher.
"By working closely with the staff team, children, parents and governors, I will ensure we provide an excellent provision.
"With many faces and names to learn, I will get to know the school community as quickly as possible.
"I hope you all have a great and safe summer and we all return refreshed for the new academic year."
Lyngford Park chairman of governors Faye Forsythe said: "I would like to congratulate Nick on his appointment and welcome him to Lyngford Primary School."
