A LOST dog was reunited with its owner after it ended up being looked after by the right people - a search and rescue team.
The scared pooch was found by a teacher in the Mendip Hills yesterday (July 4).
A spokesperson for the Avon and Somerset Search and rescue team said: "A teacher was driving round in his minibus supervising DofE students and came across the scared dog running around.
"While asking us if we knew where it came from a man passing said he'd met a lady who was looking for a dog on top of Burrington Ham."
So, the team agreed to hang on to the dog in their incident control vehicle in the hope the owner would appear.
Then, 20 minutes later, that's exactly what happened, and dog and owner were reunited.
"Rather than everyone move around looking we could keep the dog and keep an eye out for the owner, who showed up 20 mins later," the spokesperson added.
"A happy reunion!"
