A PRIMARY school teacher decided to give up her 12 year career to start a new venture in Street.
Hayley Frost, who decided teaching wasn’t her true passion, has opened a deli and shop on the High Street.
Tipsy Pickle provides local produce such as cheeses and jams, as well as offers a range of sweet and savoury snacks.
It also sells takeaway lunches, offering rolls, jacket potatoes, home made quiches and pastries.
Hayley also sells hampers, gifts and a range of local ales, ciders, wines and spirits.
“There is currently nowhere like us on the High Street that offers fresh high quality, home cooked food alongside a range of local produce to takeaway,” she said.
“We are also the only place that you can buy a couple of ales, or a bottle of fizz to take home, without having to visit a supermarket.
“We are all about finding a tasty treat, whether that be something for lunch, a mid afternoon sweet treat, or a local cider to drink in the evening sun.”
Tipsy Pickle opened at the beginning of June, after Hayley worked hard to renovate and redecorate.
“Once I’d really gotten in there and started pulling things apart, it became apparent that it was in a worse state than expected,” she added.
“The roof was leaking and all the electrics needed replacing.
“And then the pandemic hit. I decided then to put a hold on plans for the deli while we were all in lockdown as launching a business at this time just wouldn’t work
“I also had to return to my role as teacher, as I now had my own two children to home school.
“Hats off to all parents that did this as with a seven and 11 year old - I found it really difficult and that’s with 12 years teaching experience.”
Hayley explained that since opening, everyone has been really supportive and she is hoping Tipsy Pickle will become busier as final Covid-19 restrictions start to lift.
She is still planning on keeping her intense cleaning regime in place, as well as the use of hand sanitiser to keep customers safe.
Customers are also able to have a look at menus on the Tipsy Pickle social media pages (@tipsypickledeli) and pre-order lunch if they would prefer.
“I think that we have all been through the toughest of times and I am just glad to finally be here, be doing a job I love and I want to keep on doing this for a long time to come,” she said.
