A GRADUATE is opening an independent bookshop in an unusual location - her childhood home.
The Almshouse Teashop, a multi-award-winning business in Axbridge, has embarked on a new chapter after the owner's daughter opened an independent bookshop on its ground floor.
Recent University of Exeter graduate, Skye Frewin, has started the venture at the age of just 21, alongside undertaking her master's degree.
“Like all bookworms, it’s always been a dream of mine to have a bookshop, so when the opportunity to set up my own business arose, I put my heart and soul into making it happen," she said.
“I couldn’t have achieved this without the support of not only my family and friends, but also from this wonderful community."
And Skye said she had big plans for the shop.
“I want to create a local hub to help people come together and learn from each other after what has been a period of loneliness for so many," she said.
"To do this, I’m planning on hosting open-mic nights, book clubs, book signings, and other events after hours in the evenings.”
Nicky Frewin is supportive of her daughter in her new endeavour.
“I’m so proud of Skye and am confident that all of the time and effort that she has invested in her new business will give her the success she so deserves,” she said.
The Almshouse Teashop and Books is currently open from Wednesday to Saturday between 10am and 4pm.
