A BRIDGWATER park has been closed after vandals destroyed safety flooring, putting children at risk.
Sedgemoor District Council has shut the play area at Mansfield Park, on the Hamp Estate, after vandals struck.
Police are now appealing for information.
"The safety surfacing has been ripped up under the roundabout and swings, meaning any child who falls could suffer an injury," said a council spokesperson.
The vandalism took place overnight between Thursday (July 15) and the following day.
Anyone with information should contact police on 101, giving reference number 5221160723.
"We are hoping that repairs will take place next week prior to the summer holidays starting," the spokesperson added.
