THE sun shone as audiences were entertained at the Bridgwater Quayside Festival's Picnic in the Park last weekend.
The event, organised by Sally Mann, Fuse Performance and Somerset Outdoor Arts, with support from Arts Council England, featured performances and street theatre, dancing and music.
While the Bridgwater Arts Centre Tours were sold out, Bridgwater Library story-teller Sarah Mooney entertained audiences with her traditional tales and spontaneous stories in the great outdoors, on Saturday, July 10.
Somerset Film at The Engine Room, the Games for Good exhibition and Bridgwater through the Ages sound installation were open all day and the Blake Museum exhibition of Carol Lee Scott, aka Grotbags, offered visitors something a little different.
Musicians and dancers animated the streets with Seed's Let's Dance Sedgemoor project finale taking place in Blake Gardens and around the town, where groups and individual dancers showcased their talents.
The People Mural Project highlighted local people who have kept people connected and supported in their communities during the pandemic.
Eco Arts produced a trail of children’s arts sculptures using recycled materials with artist Sarah Butterworth, creating a giant eel, fish and wading birds along the West Quay and the town centre.
There's more to come as the Festival continues on Saturday, July 24, with the Bridgwater International music event at Bridgwater Art Centre. On August 14th with there will be more street theatre and music from local musicians in Bridgwater town centre from 10am to 2pm.
