A FLOOD alert has been issued for parts of the Somerset Coast.
The alert comes as thunderstorm warnings have been issued for parts of the UK by the Met Office.
There are no warnings for Somerset, but heavy showers and high winds are set to hit the South West.
Flooding is possible along parts of the Somerset coast, especially at Porlock Weir, with sea spray expected as a result of high tides and strong winds.
High tide was expected around 7.30am this morning (August 8).
"Flooding to roads and farmland is possible, however conditions may apply two hours either side of the high tide," said a spokesperson for the Environment Agency.
"Areas most at risk are the coastline between Gore Point and Hurlstone Point including Porlock Weir.
"Flooding of properties is not forecast at this point.
"Coastal conditions are expected to continue until after the high tides at Porlock Weir. We are closely monitoring the situation.
"Please be careful along beaches, promenades and coastal footpaths and roads."
