A NEW play area in Bridgwater has been officially opened to the public.
The toddler play area, in Eastover Park, has been open for youngsters to enjoy during the summer holidays.
But today (Wednesday), there was an official ribbon-cutting event to officially open the facility.
Chair of Sedgemoor District Council (SDC), Cllr Alan Bradford, did the honours, alongside Eastover ward councillors Glen Burrows and Tony Heywood.
Cllr Burrows said: “With the completion of the new playground, Eastover Park has a wonderful array of play spaces for children of all ages.
"The quad swing is the first of its kind in any Sedgemoor park.
"With four swings, trampoline, seesaw, springer and a multi-play unit, we’ve got a park to be proud of!"
Cllr Burrows thanked SDC, who provided funding, and those who designed and built the playground.
The event saw youngsters enjoy music and dancing to mark the opening, and Cllr Burrows urged them to respect their new play area.
"Let’s continue to show our thanks by by respecting the play areas and equipment and keeping the park litter-free," he added.
"When life eventually gets back to normal, let’s use the park for a variety of community events and entertainment, to bring people together again."
