STUDENTS at Bridgwater & Taunton College will be able get vaccinated at a walk-in NHS service on campus next week.
On Thursday, September 2, vaccinations will be available for students aged 16 or over at the college's Bridgwater Campus.
A spokesperson for Bridgwater & Taunton College said: "This provides an excellent opportunity to get vaccinated now that the government has opened up vaccination to 16- and 17-year-olds.
"The vaccinations are being provided at the Bridgwater Campus. Further vaccination days are being planned for the following week at the Taunton and Cannington Campuses.
"If you are 16 or older and would like to take up this opportunity, please visit the Bridgwater Campus on Thursday 2nd September."
Due to a recent surge in Covid cases, Bridgwater Town Council has announced that its town hall Covid testing centre will remain open until Friday, September 17.
It had been due to close on Monday, September 6.
Town clerk David Mears said: "Bridgwater Town Hall has hosted a Covid testing centre since November 2020. The current agreement expires on 6 September 2021.
"Due to recent data which shows that Bridgwater has the highest infection rate in England, Bridgwater Town Council has agreed an extension until Friday 17 September 2021.
"This will enable a new Covid Testing facility to be set up to ensure the community are not left without this vital service."
