A COURIER managed to avoid a driving ban for speeding after he told Taunton Deane Magistrates' Court he would lose his job if he was disqualified.
Michael Ian Major, 28, of Longstone Avenue, Bridgwater, admitted doing 59mph in a temporary 50mph zone on the M5 northbound between Junctions 24 (North Petherton) and 23 (Bridgwater).
He was given three penalty points, which took him over the totting up limit for disqualification.
Magistrates also took into account that Major's partner is shortly to give birth to their baby and depriving him of the right to drive would cause difficulties attending appointments.
He was fined £100 with a £34 victim surcharge and £85 costs for the offence on March 9 last year.
STREET woman Carol Demian was banned from driving for 28 days for doing 118mph on the A303 dual carriageway near Wincanton.
Demian, 32, of Seymour Road, admitted the offence and was fined £120 with a £34 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
