A MAN from Bridgwater has been handed a court bill of over £1,000 after he assaulted a civil enforcement officer by beating him.
Paul John Hooper, of Penlea Avenue, pleaded guilty at Taunton Magistrates' Court to assault by beating, contrary to section 39 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988, on Friday, February 4.
He committed the offence in High Street, Bridgwater, on Friday, December 17, 2021.
Hooper was ordered to pay £950 to the victim in compensation, a £95 surcharge, and £85 in court costs.
He must also carry out 40 hours of unpaid work by February 3, 2023.
Court documents say his guilty plea was "taken into account" when he sentence was imposed.
