FIRE crews rescued a horse from a water-filled ditch earlier today (February 26).
One fire engine and a specialist rescue team from Taunton and Bridgwater were sent to the scene in North Petherton around 11am.
The horse was rescued and then assessed by a vet on the scene.
"Fire control received a 999 call asking for assistance with a large horse in a water filled ditch," said a spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.
"On arrival crews confirmed there was one horse in a water filled ditch and started setting up water rescue equipment.
"The horse was rescued using a telehandler from a local farmer and specialist animal rescue equipment."
