DESPITE the aftermath of the storms 52 of the Ladies Section at Enmore Park Golf Club were able to get out and enjoy an eight hole team multiplier competition on Wednesday.
Two teams returned with 45 points but after count back it was Shanni Whisler who plays off a handicap of 13, Ruth MacLennan (19) Rachel Johnson (20) and Jo Wyatt (23) who were the winners just pipping Janet Waplington (27) Carol Robinson (30), Nanette Moore (45) and Susan Hockley (30).
Third place was claimed by Jane Driver (23), Julie Blumgart (15), Jackie Bull (28) and Beverley Broad (10) with 42 points.
Meanwhile twins Olivia and Rory Lake who have been members for almost five years are using some of the skills they’ve learned through golf to help them work towards their Duke of Edinburgh award, showing leadership within the coaching sessions and helping the younger ones to grow in confidence.
Olivia said: “Volunteering with junior coaching has improved my confidence, listening skills and ability to communicate with juniors and coaching staff across the club.
"I enjoy passing on my knowledge to younger players through talking to them, demonstrating techniques shown by the professional and answering their questions."
Head professional Barry Forster said: “They are both a valuable asset to the club and I love how it all comes full circle, they started really young coming to coaching and now they have grown in maturity and confidence to help us with the next wave of younger players.”
Enmore Park have a junior coaching session explainer at their open day on March 20.
