AN 11-YEAR-OLD is writing letters and sending toys to Ukrainian children “to make life a bit better for them”.
Tai Lovell, from Bridgwater, is trying to reach children in Ukraine with letters and little presents after seeing in the news how the war is affecting their lives.
He also translated the letter into Ukrainian on his own with the help of his tablet.
Christopher Lovell, his father, said Tai “is caring about them” and he wants “to make life a bit better for them”.
Mr Lovell also said: “He was at home and decided to write a letter and translate what he wrote from English into Ukrainian.
“I asked him what he wrote and he said he wrote about how he is thinking of them and how life in England is.
“He also wants to send colouring books, little toys, gloves to protect them from the cold, and other little toys to cheer them up.1 “He has been thinking about it a lot and he has also been thinking about how he could try to make life a bit better for them.
“I think because he has seen it in the news, he is caring about them and he wants to do as much as he can to make them feel a bit better.”
Tai will bring all the letters and all the items he wants to donate to the nearest collection point in Bridgwater so that it can finally reach Ukraine.
“I think he is going to do more and more,” Mr Lovell also added.
He also said: “I am very proud of him and my partner Sophie feels the same.
“He did everything off his back and for an 11-year-old is quite impressive. He thinks about other people rather than himself.”
