A BRIDGWATER man has been fined and handed a one-year disqualification for driving while under the influence of cocaine.
Jamie Thomas Weir, of Potterton Close, pleaded guilty to driving a green Vauxhall Corsa car on the A47 in Norwich, Norfolk, when the amount of cocaine in his blood was over the legal driving limit.
Weir, 34, was driving when the proportion of cocaine in his blood measured 72 micrograms per litre.
The legal driving limit for cocaine is 10 micrograms per litre of blood.
He committed the offence on December 15 and appeared at North Somerset Magistrates' Court on Friday, March 11.
Weir was banned from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 12 months.
Court documents say the disqualification was "obligatory for the offence".
He was also fined £120 and ordered to pay costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service and a £34 surcharge to fund victim services.
Weir's guilty plea taken into account when his sentence was imposed.
He will pay his £239 court bill in fortnightly instalments of £10 from Friday, April 1.
