A longstanding community group in Bridgwater has taken part in the locally loved Bridgwater Carnival for over 70 years.
The British Flag Carnival Club reached its 70th anniversary in 2020, but the pandemic meant all celebrations had to be put on pause for the foreseeable future.
This year, the carnival is set to return and the group are hosting a food and drink festival to help fund their involvement in this year's event.
The festival will take place on April 16, with over 60 locally based businesses’ stalls to be set up across the town centre.
Bridgwater Town Hall, High Street, and Fore Street will be the primary locations.
British Flag Carnival Club member Paul Russell is helping to organise the event.
“We have worked hard to bring a great mixture of stalls to the event, with something for all,” he said.
There will also be entertainment on the Cornhill throughout the festival, including street entertainers and children’s rides.
The food and drink festival is just one of four events organised by the club this year to help fund their involvement in the historic Bridgwater Carnival’s return.
