THE latest figures show an encouraging drop in the number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Sedgemoor.
There were a total of 962 people with a confirmed positive test result in the week from Wednesday, March 30 to yesterday (Tuesday, April 5).
That is a decrease of 29.5 per cent compared to the previous seven-day period.
At the same time the number of people being tested has dipped by 10.4 per cent to 14,302 over the seven days to Monday (April 4).
So far, 100,502 people in the district had had their first dose of the vaccine by yesterday; 96,109 had received their second dose; and 78,517 had been triple jabbed.
In the period Monday, March 28 to Sunday, April 3, 1,722 people in the South West went into hospital with coronavirus - a drop of 5.3 per cent on the previous seven days.
There were 1,462 patients in hospital with coronavirus yesterday, with 32 of those on a mechanical ventilator.
Sadly, one person in Sedgemoor died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid between Wednesday, March 30 and yesterday.
