THE Compass in North Petherton has reopened after a six-figure investment.
The refurbishment cost around £100,000 and has focussed on the transformation of its garden, to be able to serve its guests outside during sunny spring and summer days.
The historic building is just outside of Bridgwater, on the A38 road, and is a former tavern that dates to 1856.
The pub's garden after the refurbishment
The Compass has kept its warm and traditional character but has had some TLC and touch-ups after it was shut at the end of February.
The investment sees new benches, and landscaped gardens with an array of plants to make it more welcoming for the guests.
The pub’s garden has also increased its seating outside to over 100 guests.
There have also been upgrades behind the scenes, creating amazing new food and drinks menus.

The pub reopens with a new menu, including a delicious two-course meal priced at £11.99 per person and a three-course meal priced at £14.99 per person during weekdays from 4pm.
There are plenty of choices on the pub’s new menu, including the cheesy button mushroom bruschetta as a starter and the hand-buttered cod with chips or the veggie burger as mains.
Every Sunday, the pub has roasts available all day, with a choice of turkey, loin of pork, beef, a triple roast of all three types of meat, or a vegetarian option.
The pub also offers fantastic mini-roasts for kids to enjoy – the perfect size for little foodies.
The extensive drinks list includes a range of popular beers, including Estrella Damm, Budvar Budweiser, and craft ale First World Problems.
The range of wine list includes a range of over 12 different wines, including Brancott Estate Sauvignon Blanc, Campo Viejo Rioja Tempranillo, and Veuve Cliquot Yellow.
The pub has also a big range of cocktails and spirits, including the Malfi Rosa gin.
Every day from 9am until 12pm the pub is serving a variety of breakfast dishes including the Full English Breakfast for £6.79 and the traditional full English breakfast for £5.49, while there are vegan options, such as the full veggie Breakfast for £5.79.
Moreover, the pub is keeping its Afternoon Tea menu for those who fancy a weekday treat between 12pm and 6pm.

Guests can also upgrade their Afternoon Tea with two glasses of Prosecco or two cocktails for an extra £6pp.
Also, the pub made sure that there are options for all occasions, and for that reason, the pub provides a lunch buffet menu for groups with 10 and more guests, including many different types of sandwiches and wraps.
Furthermore, there are other options and packages for the buffet menu that include many options of small and large plates, sides, and desserts as well.
Nick Schofield, general manager of The Compass, said: “I am very excited about this renovation as it gave us an opportunity to upgrade our garden and make the most out of this amazing space.
"This is an exciting new chapter for us. We have created a new menu and we can’t wait for our guests to try it and give us their opinion.”
