THERE are delays of an hour on the M5 this morning (April 14) due to animals in the road.

Traffic is slowly moving between junction 22 (Burnham-on-Sea) and Sedgemoor Services.

All lanes have now re-opened, but National Highways South West are reporting delays of 60 minutes 'above normal travel times'.

A spokesperson for National Highways South West said: "The traffic has now been released in both directions.

"It is being released slowly northbound due to people being out of their vehicles.

"We hope to have you all moving once it is safe."

The traffic was held around 7am this morning, as animals were loose on the motorway.

A spokesperson for Travel Somerset added: "Long delays and queueing traffic due to earlier animals in the road on M5 both ways between J22 (Burnham-On-Sea) and Sedgemoor Services. All lanes have been re-opened."
