A FIRE broke out in a derelict building last night (Thursday, April 14).
Fire control received 14 separate calls about the incident in the Salmon Parade area of Bridgwater around 6pm.
Two fire engines from Bridgwater attended the blaze, which appeared to have been started deliberately.
On arrival, they confirmed a fire in the ground floor of a derelict building.
"Crews were extinguishing the fire using two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet," said a spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.
"Crews confirmed they extinguished a fire involving a mattress inside a derelict building which is believed to be started deliberately."
