RESIDENTS in and around Bridgwater had their say about the best fish and chips shops in the area.
The Bridgwater Mercury published a Facebook post asking for readers' opinions about the best chippy in the area and foodies from the area replied with a long list of preferences.
More than 100 people left comments with their preferences and according to them the most popular fish and chips places in Bridgwater are Dolphin Fish Bar, on Westonzoyland Road, Star Fish Bar, on North Street, Parkway Fish Bar, and Admiral Blake on St Mary Street.
Andy Rowley is among those who prefer Dolphin Fish Bar. He said: “Dolphin on Westonzoyland Road by far the best.”
Another Facebook user, Carol Lovell, said Star Fish Bar is her favourite and she “would not go anywhere else”.
Commenting on the Bridgwater Mercury’s Facebook post, Kevin O’Brien said: “Parkway chip shop,their fish is bloody lovely always freshly cooked and their chips are nice as well.”
Joan Simpson said: “We always get a good deal in Parkway chippy lunch deal.”
Several people left comments in favour of Admiral Blake with Julia Taylor saying it is “the best”.
Other places were mentioned too. For example, Alex Selley suggested Golden Fish and Chips and said: “Tell you what. Golden Fish and Chips. The woman that took over at Kendale Road has done a fantastic job.
“Makes amazing pancake rolls and fishcakes from scratch. Really friendly service and deserves the custom. She is my favourite.
“Always go there now for chip shop food. If you haven't tried there you won't be disappointed.”
